• . !.COLD NIGHTS The following is the weather forecast for 24 nours from 9 a.m. this • lay and issued at noon: —- The indications arc for southerly winds, moderate to strong, decreasing. There will be scattered showers, but weather improving, and later there is a prospect of fine weather; days bright and nights cold. The night will probably be very cold with frosts inland. The barometer is rising slowly. IMPROVING TO-MORROW Following is the Government meteor ologist’s weather report and forecast, issued last night: — A deep depression passed east of the Dominion last night, and barometers are rising. An intense anti cyclone still covers south-eastern Australia. Winds south-westerly, and strong to gale force; in places reaching strong gale. Seas rough to heavy generally in New Zealand waters. Strong south-easterly winds to gales, and rough to heavy seas, in eastern Tasman Sea; moderating generally to morrow. Weather very cold and squally; heavy showers at. times in most districts with hail in many places; snow in parts of Canterbury and the southern provinces, with some severe frosts.
