WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

NEW BRANCH FORMED ’ FOR HATUMA DISTRICT Yesterday afternoon at Mrs. P. A. Riddle’s home, Hatuma, a new branch of the Women’s Institute was formed. Miss Wilson and Miss Bibby organisers, explained the aims and objects of the institute to intending members. A committee of ten was elected, with Mrs. P. A. Riddle, as president; Mrs S. A. Robinson, lion, secretary and and Miss E. Allen treasurer. A short demonstration of china mending was given by Miss Wilson, followed by a paper mache demonstration by Miss Bibby, who had very pretty samples of her work. Other work shown was hand-made gloves, Barbola work, also sured and dyed skins. An institute song was practised. A very dainty afternoon tea was supplied by members, and the afternoon closed with the National Anthem. Some 28 members have joined the new branch.
