Air H.‘ M. Tansley, town clerk, is at present confined to his home through indisposition.

Airs A. Colquhoun (Waipawa) has found it necessary to enter the Waipukurau Public Hospital for 'treatment.

Airs S. J. Smith and Miss Yolande Smith, of Alasterton, arc visiting Waipawa, being the guests of the Rev. and Airs H. Dyson.

The Hon E. A. Ransom,. Minister for Lands, who arrived in Dannevirke on Thursday night, is staying in town until Alonday or Tuesday, when he returns to Wellington.

Alessfs Edward Averill, Thomas Crosse, James Baird Campbell. Alartin Greenwood and Leslie Alartin Alonckton, are the newly elected members of the Hawke’s Bar Rabbit Board.

Air and Airs T. A. Nutt and family left Wanstead for Palmerston North, their future home, this morning, carrying with them the best wishes of a large circle of Central Hawke’s Bay friends.

At the opening korcro of the Hastings Orphans' Club .for the 19.32 season, held in the Assembly Hall. Hastings, last evening, there was a large attendance of members and visitors. Orphan Dr. D. A. Bathgate was enthusiastically installed as the Chief Orphan.

Mr H. Duckworth, Junr., who has taken up his residence in Blenheim, purchased the business of a widelyknown firm of booksellers and stationers, viz., Messrs E. H. Penny and Mrs Duckworth, who had been visiting relatives in Wellington, is proceeding to Blenheim to-day.

The Australian driver, Mr Norman Smith, together with Mrs Smith and Mr E. C. Swadling, of Sydney, left. Wellington for Sydney by the Zealandia yesterday. The windscreen and radiator have been removed from his racing car which is in a shed on the Northern Wharf at Auckland, and the car will probably bo shipped to Sydney in about a fortnight’s time.

Sir James Knott, Bart., who was head of the Prince Line of steamships, was married at Monte Carlo recently to Miss Elizabeth Gauntlett. daughter of Colonel V. C. Gauntlett. The bridegroom is 77 y’ears of age and the bride 25. Sii’ James is well known on the Riviera, particularly in yachting circles. His y’acht Princess has been in Monte Carlo harbour during the winter. It was only four years ago that he celebrated his golden wedding with his first wife, who died in 1929..
