Three Men Before Court

CHARGED USING VIOLENCE

LENGTHY TERMS IMPRISONMENT

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

As the result of the tramway strike distr übances three ex-tramwaymen were charged this morning with using Violence toward a loyal worker who was pulled off a bicycle and knocked about last Friday.

Ernest George Ellis (43) an exmotorman, concerned in two charges, was sentenced to six months’ hard labour, and George Albert Knowles (36), an ex-conductor, to three months’ hard labour.

Charges against Colin Dixon were dismissed.

The trams are running without interruption to-day and most of the relief workers are working.
