Help in Ex-Servicemen’s Lifetime
Sir George Richardson, commenting on the Christchurch R.S.A. resolution favouring the use of £20,000 from the canteen funds, said there was a growing feeling that the time had arrived for a definite policy to help men within their lifetime. He favoured a policy on the friendly society basis. It is estimated that there are 12,000 ex-soldiers unemployed, and £20,000 would not go far among them.
