Old Man Murdered
IN HOBART STREET “A SHOT AND A CURSE” HOBART, Last Night. A cold-blooded murder was perpetrated in Harrington street, Hobart. The victim was Charles Whelan, aged 65, a watersider, living alone, who was shot dead by two men, who were later seen running away from the scene. A neighbour heard the man demanding money in the vilest language, also Whelan’s protests. He then heard a shot and a curse. The neighbour followed the men for some distance and then returned and found Whelan dead.
