Kicked by a Horse

BLOW ENDS FATALLY

FRACTURE OF SKULL CAUSED

(Per Press Association)

MASTERTON, Last Night.

A verdict that death was due to a fracture of the skull and laceration of the brain caused by being kicked by a horse, was returned by Mr. J. D. Wilson, coroner, at an inquest at Pahiatua into the death of John Tait, aged 83 years who died at Mararakaunui on October 23.

Evidence was given that Tait was attending a sick horse. The horse was making efforts to lie down and deceased hit it over the rump with his hat to make it keep up. The animal struck out with both feet, striking Tait on the head.
