Woman’s Foolish Act

CLIMBS AN EIGHT FOOT FENCE DOMESTIC WORRY AND DRINK. With the intention of searching the locker of her husband, who was employed by the Wellington Harbour Board, a woman of 33 years, determined to justify or dispel, her suspicions, climbed over an eoght-foot fence surrounding one of the board’s yards on Friday night. She was seen and told to go, but returned and repeated her act.

Counsel (Mr Hurley) entered a plea of guilty when she appeared in the Police Court charged with being found without lawful excuse in an enclosed yard. He said his client had been suffering from the effects of brandy, which she had been prescribed.

The magistrate, in convicting and. discharging accused, said her act had been a very foolish one. It was probably the combination of domestic circumstances and the fact that she had had drink. He granted an application for the suppression of her name.
