A Successful Concert

AT PUKEORA SANATORIUM BY WAIPUKURAU PERFORMERS On Wednesday night, a party of Waipukurau performers staged a most successful concert. at the Pukeora Sanatorium, the list of items being, arranged by Miss Lily Welsh. L.A.8., and Miss Irene Polhill, to whom credit is due for the complete success attained. The programme, which was both varied and original, was well received,

and the performers were afforded a

generous measure of encouragement, each item being enthusiastically encored. The numbers presented included recitations, instrumental and vocal numbers, also novelty items provided by a guitar and ukelele trio. Songs were contributed by Miss Welsh and Mr E. T. Haldaie, who were recalled amidst applause for return numbers, whilst some clever dancing items were supplied by Misses Esther Ganderton and P. A. Polhill. Miss Gwladys Major and Air G’corge Winlove were in form, with some humorous monologues, and a demonstration of electric light club swinging by Air R. B. Parker proved a popular novelty item. The programme wait as follows: Instrumental trio, “’Norma”, Air T. Denne and sons; Sailors’ hornnipe, Afiss E.

Ganderton; recitations, “Christopher Robin”, and “Three Trees”, Aliss Averil Nelson; songs, Air E. T. Haldane, “Sons of the Sea” (Coleridge Taylor), and ‘ ‘ Aylsbury Ducks ’’; dance, “Happy Feet’’, .Aliss Phyllis A. Polhill; novelty item, string trio, Alessrs Arthur Al. Snelling (steel guitar). George Winlove (ukelele), and Hany Winlove (ukelele); humorous songs, Miss Gwladys Major, “Tire Egg” rind “Prehistoric Days”; humorous recitations, Air George Winlove. “Aly ‘Bally’ Eyeglass” ami “Silly Ass”; violin solos, “Humoresque” ami “Alarie” B. Atkins; display of electric light club swinging Mr R. B. Parker; Irish. Jig, Aliss Esther Ganderton; Novelty trio, Alessrs Winlovc. Snelling and Winlovc; recitation, Afiss Averil Nelson; dance Aliss Polhill; songs. Air Haldane. “AVaiata Alaori’f and “Young Tom O'Dea”; guitar ami like’ trio,, Alessrs Snelling and 11. and G. At the conclusion of the concert the members of the party were accorded three cheers by the audience, after which they were entertained to a dainty supper, by Dr. Francis. Acting AFedical Superintendent, and the members of the nursing staff.
