A Noted Chemist
ON VISIT TO THE DOMINION. EXTENDING YEAST INDUSTRY A leading Danish technological chemist Mr S. Sak, recognised as a world authority on yeast and fermentation processes, arrived by the Ulimaroa at Wellington from Sydney yesterday and left for the south last evening. He was accompanied by Mr S. R. Cowley, general manager of the Dominion Compressed . . Yeast Company, Christchurch, who had gone to Australia in order to meet him as well as for the purpose of conducting some technical investigations in yeast factories at Sydney and Melbourne. Mr Sak has come to New Zealand to superintend the installation of new plant being being built in accordance -with patent rights bought from him by Mr Cowley’s company. This work will take some time. Mr Sak is widely known in America, England and on the Continent as one of the foremost industrial chemists. All the large yeast concerns in other countries, including the Fleischman 'Company, U.S.A., use methddsjwhich Mr' Sak patented, 'these mettiddh are now. being: extended to Australia and New Zealand.
