HYDRO - ELECTRICITY

The Waitaki Works

SPECIAL TESTS CARRIED OUT.

CONSIDERED SATISFACTORY.

(Per Press Association) OAMARU, This Day.

A representative of the Oamaru “Mail” visited the Waitaki hydroelectric works yesterday and was afforded full opportunity of seeing a most thorough test of rock carried out.

The rock, when placed under a test, was of poorer quality than that recently condemned. It stood a test such as no part of the dam foundations will ever be submitted to.

Samples of alleged “pug” proved to be greywacke hard rock, such as is found in most of the big works in the Dominion.
