CRIME IN OTAGO

FIVE CASES FOR SUPREME COURT.

(Per Press Association) DUNEDIN, Last Night.

The criminal sitting of the Supreme Court opened, this morning. The list is a light one, only five persons being charged with various offences. Harry Samuel Clegg pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent assault and was remanded in custody until Friday

morning, for sentence. Oliver John Clunie was arrainged on several charges of indecency. The case occupied three hours and the jury then retired, and after an absence of 20 minutes returned with a verdict of not guilty. Duncan Barclay Mercer was charged with breaking and entering the Bay View Hotel on the Anderson’s Bay road. He pleaded not guilty. The case had been partly heard when the Court adjourned until to-morrow morning at 10 o’clock.
