Actor’s Morbid Record
THREE WIVES COMAIITTED SUICIDE. WEALTHY WOMAN’S INFATUATION A tragedy has occurred in a wellknown actor’s family in Berlin. Kitty Girardi the daughter of an Austrian industrialist, went on the stage against her parents’ wishes, and although she had little success there, she met Toni Girardi, also an actor, and the son of the well-known Viennese comedian. The two were married, and Kitty Girardi helped her husband in his profession. Frau Girardi disposed of her property in A’icnna and took a luxurious flat in Berlin. From the first there were perpetual quarrels, and at the end of a month Girardi left his home to reside in a small flat by himself.
Frau Girardi, who was passionately fond of her husband, tried to inducehim to return to her. When she saw that her efforts were in vain she attempted suicide by shooting herself, but recovered from the effects in hospital. Since then relatives have hardly ever left her, but in an unguarded moment she took poison with fatal results.
Herr Girardi had been twice married previously, and both his wives ended their lives by suicide. He lived an extremely extravagant life, and soon ran through the fortune left him by his father, and squandered the property of his first two wives. He was so overwrought for a time that he was placed in an asylum. After trying his fortune on the stage once more, but without success, ho advertised in a Vienna newspaper for the post of chaffcur. His third wife put him on his feet again, and in Berlin he has engaged in film work. Frau Girardi frequently said that she could not live alone, and. it is believed, committed suicide in a fit of melancholy.
