Grand Concert
TO BE GTVtN AT WAIPUKURAU. FIRE BRIGADE FUNCTION ■ i ■Lovers of music, singing and dancing are promised a positive treat at the Municipal Theatre, on Friday week, September sth, when the local Fire Brigade will present a grand concert. Reference to the advertisement in this issue indicates that some of the best-known artists in the North Island will be contributing items. The performers that will be assisting with the programme include visitors from Wellington, Palmerston North, and Dannevirke addition to the local popular favourites, Miss Lily Welsh, L.A.8., and Mr E. T. Haldane. It may be suggested that “times are hard,” but when the public is to receive full value for money expended, it makes a difference.' With the election of the Superintendent of the Waipukurau to the position of President of the United District Fire Brigades’ Association, and the holding of the next annual conference at Waipukurau, it is fitting that citizens should appreciate the honour conferred upon the town, as well as the brigade, and to assist in raising funds towards defraying the cost of the conference, at which fire brigade delegates will be present from all parts of th North Island. " The box plan for the grand concert was opened at Wood’s Music Depot yesterday, and in view of the modest charges made for admission to the concert, patrons would he advised to book their seats early, which can be done free of charge.
