Blenheim Boxer Dies
FATALITY AT PALMERSTON N. END TO PROMISING CAREER. Mr Peter Rush, of Blenheim, who during the course of the Dominion boxing championships on Friday evening was removed to the Palmerston North public hospital after having collapsed at the end of the first round, passed away on Saturday afternoon, states the “Times.” It was during the preliminary rounds of the heavyweight championship that the unfortunate incident occurred. Rush appeared to be all right when the gong went for the end of the first round but while his seconds were working over him he showed decided signs of distress. Subsequently he was admitted to hospital and on Saturday morning he underwent an operation for a severe hemorrhage, but death follow ed shortly after noon. Deceased was the second son of a former resident of Palmerston North, Mr Diego Rush, now of Charles strce*. Blenheim and was twenty years of age. He was a keen footballer and associated himself with all branches of sport. His parents arrived in Palmer-, ston North yesterday and the interment will take place at Blenheim tomorrow. All arrangements made by the Box-j ing Association for the entertainment, of visitors yesterday were cancelled as a mark of respect to the deceased.
