Dr. E. Griffiths, Dr. Vickery, and Messrs. Haddon and Holmes, of the Cambridge Low Temperature Research staff, who are studying the storage problems of meat in New Zealand, commenced their investigations at the Whakatau works in Hawke’s Bay, and are at present continuing thes at the Ngahauranga works of the Wellington Meat Export Company. The investigations involve the examination of the temperatures and humidities of the carcases as they pass from the slaughtering floor right to the ship’s side, and thence to Great Britain, where the work will be continued by officers of the Cambridge low temperature research station. The investigations are being made with a view to compiling a report on the question of having New Zealand meat arrive in Britain in the best condition for marketing, and considerable interest is being taken in the' researches by those connected with the meat export trade.
