REPORTED MUTINY
THB JERVIS BAY AFFAIR. | NO CAUSE FOR ANXIETY. (Australian and N.Z. Press Assn.) LONDON, Juno 23. The British United Press Association reports the receipt of a message from Captain Daniel, through the London Manager of the line: ‘ 4 Everything going well. Contradict statements relative 'to crew. These arc absolutely false. Decline any statement except through Australia House?’ The British United Press Association comments: “It is not known - what statement Captain Daniel has in mind. It is presumed, however, that the crew remained loyal throughout, though. this is the first indication, received in London that this-was the' case.” NO TROUBLE WITH THE CREW SITUATION UNDER CONTROL. (Australian Press Association United Service.) COLOMBO, June 23. Messages from the Jervis Bay state that the situation is well under control. A wireless received by the local agents states that the trouble was confined to the stowaways. The Savol was expected to meet the Jervis Bay at six in the evening', when she will inform the Suffolk if assistance is needed. If not required the Suffolk will put back to Colombo, according to the naval authorities. It is surmised that there has been no trouble with the crow. ARMED GUARD ABOARD. Australian, and N.Z. Press Association COLOMBO, June 24. A naval intelligence officer, stated that the Savol met the Jervis Bay and an armed guard boarded the vessel and the stowaways were placed under guard without trouble. The Sufflock will escort the Jervis Bay to Colombo, where she is expected at daylight on Monday. Full details of the story will bo made known on Monday. Considerable anxiety was caused on Friday by the receipt of the following message by the warship 4 4 Enterprise” from the steamer 4 4 Jervis Bay,” bound from Freemantle to Colombo:
4 4 Having trouble with eight desperate stowaways. Is there any warship on the track? 1780 miles east, 42 miles north of Galle. Proceeding towards Colombo.”
