‘‘TWELVE MILES OUT.”
John Gilbert again proves this ability as a star in “ Twelve Miles Out,” which will bo shown at the Waipukurau Theatre to-morrow night. The story is one of modern piracy, and as it develops on rapid-fire lines, you leave the sea to visit firstly New York night clubs, then go back to the sea again to bring liquor ashore for metropolitan merry-makers; but the Revenue boats appear, and under ma-chine-gun fire there is a dash for the coast. This unique attraction provides Gilbert with his most aggressive role. Joan Crawford plays opposite him and gives a brilliant and sympathetic performance.
“Fighting Fathers,” which will also be screened to-morrow night, is a hilarious story of a feud between two fathers which the children complicate by falling in love. As well as their own personal quarrels each of the papas therefore becomes involved in a; frantic effort to save his child from the disgrace of marriage with his neighbour’s offspring. The comedy special attraction, “The Cohens and Kellys in Paris” will be screened next Saturday.
