HOSPITAL BOARD. VABIOUS REPORTS. New Buildings. The Clerk of Works (Mr T. Spademan) reporting to the Hospital Board, states that the administrative block is now in the process of construction, the foundations being finished, and the brick-work of the walls well forward. The now kitchen has been roofed, and plastering is in hand. District Nurse. The District Nurse (Porangahau) states that during the month of March, 35 patients were attended, involving 66 visits —44 out and 22 in. The particulars furnished reveal a wide range of activities on the part of Nurse Gladys Watt. Rathbone Home. Sister L. Bridge, Matron of the Rathbone Maternity Home, has reported for March that five births took place, and that as at the 3rd inst., four mothers and three babies were in the .institution, ' Feos collected for February and March totalled £7B 4/6. A fine enlargement of their child — the first baby born in the Homo —has been presented by Mr and Mrs Mills. Hospital Affairs. The Waipukurau Hospital report supplied by Matron C. I. Drummond showed that as at the 19th inst., there were 51 patilcnts under treatment —28 men and 17 women—and 6 cases in isolation. Sister Hawkins left at the end of March, and 14 applications had been received for the vacancy, Miss Badan, of Westport, being appointed. Sister Thompson is acting in the meantime. Nurse Bennett has-left, and Miss Orr, of Christchurch, is taking her place. Nurses Grenside and Tolmio will be going up for their final examinations in yune. Annual Review. The Medical Superintendent (Dr. J. L_Reid), in his annual report for the year ended March 31st, gives much interesting information. During the period, 760 patients were treated, 447 being, males, and 313 females. Of the cases, 464 were surgical, and 296 medical. Operations to the number 1 of 363 wore performed, 222 being major, and 141 minor. Of the medical total, 45 cases were treated in the Isolation Block. On March 31st there wore 68 patients under treatment—33 in the men’s ward, and 30 women’s ward, and 5 in isolation. In 1920-21, there were *B9 patients, showing an. average of 31; 95 occupied beds per day. In 192425, 585, the average per bed being 50.2; and 1925-26, 700, an average of 55.8.
