EAST COAST BOWLING.

ANNUAL TOURNAMENT. In the first day’s play at the annual tournament of the East Coast Centre, held at Hastings, D’Anvers, (skip) won two games in Section A, and lost one. Hall had a similar experience in Section B, and Moore likewise in Section G. In Section D, Waipukurau was not represented, but Critchley •(’Waipdwa) was successful in the three contests involved. On Monday, D’Anvers, Hall, and Moore, repeated their record of New Year’s Day. Tonkins, of Hastings, won Section A with six wins and no losses; Maher (St. Leonards) ■ and Bewley (Hastings) headed Section B with five wins qnd one loss; Thomas (Wairere), Section C with five wins and one loss; and Chritchley, Section D -with six wins and no losses. ■ ■ , a The tournament was concluded yesterday. Occasional, showers interfered somewhat with the play. Nevertheless, some interesting games -were played, the result of the final game being in doubt up to the sixteenth head, when , the score was 17 —16, 'in Chritchley’s favour, but on the seventeenth head Thomas notched a three, and three con-, secutive two’s in the next three - heads, which put the game completely in his;' favour, the final score being 25 —19. Thomas deserves his win, as he has been very-consistent for quite a number of tournaments, and Critchley is to be complimented on his' performance.
