The Plunkct Shield match, Auckland v. Canterbury, ended this afternoon in a win for Auckland by five wickets. Canterbury flattered their supporters by running up a total of 257 in the second innings, leaving Auckland with 166 runs to get to win. Canterbury again seemed to have a good chance when five Auckland wickets had fallen for 72, but thereafter Gillespie and Fratcr, playing almost faultless cricket, mastered the bowling,, and made the necessary runs. Gillespie was 54 and Fratcr 51, both unbeaten. Auckland won the match by five wickets. Cunningham and Read bowled well for Canterbury until a drizzle made the ball greasy and difficult to control. Read took 3 wickets for 49, and Cunningham 2 for 60. SHEFFIELD SHIELD. QUEENSLAND v. S. AUSTRALIA. ADELAIDE, Wednesday. Queensland, in the second innings, made 379 (Gough 73, Gill 36).
