WOOL MARKET

NAPIER SALE. FRIGES SATISFACTORY. Considering the condition of the Hawke’s Bay clip this season, the prices ruling on Friday must be considered very satisfactory. For the sale the wool opened up heavier in condition. and showing more seed than the ’ wool in the November sale. The wool, too, was lacking in appearance, beingdull in colour, and in many instances dusty and tender. Most of the wool that suffered seemed to be clips from sheep running on the flats. Some good wools, however, wore shown from the Gisborne district and from the Hovyke Bay country towards the coast. The clips continue to show that the wool is getting liner, and a word of advice was again given by an authority, when he urged the farmer to go ia for the breeding of a greater weight of wool. With an increased weight, He said, the farmer would be better off, but he could only get it by proper breeding. From the way in which most growers met the market, as reported in our issue of Friday, fTwouTcT seem as though their confidence /has been restored. Just an indication of the confidence of the grower in the future market, perhaps, may be gathered by the action of one whose wool was passed in at the Northern sale at lid. On Friday the wool went up again, and this time it was passed in at an increase of id per lb. It is still to be held, however. in the hope of an even better return.. Of Friday’s catalogue of just under 22,000 bales, fully 90 per cent was disposed of under the hammer. OFFICIAL RANGE OF PRICES. The official range of prices is as follows, those for the November sale being given also for comparative purposes : — . December November
