The first day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Cup meeting was held on Saturday. The weather was fine, but a strong nor’-wester was blowing. The course was in good order. The totalisatir investments were £57,385 10/-, against £62, 922. Results:

The Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting was opened to-day in dull weather. There was a good attendance, including the Governor-General. The track.was holding as a result of recent rain.
