GAMES ON SATURDAY.
SEVEN'-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. I In view of the fact that a NapierHastings team was playing in Wairoa on Saturday, senior teams indulged .in a seven-a-side tournament, which attracted quite a large crowd to Mclucan Park. M.A.C., the team at the bottom of the competition, came out on top, much to the crowd's delight, and were closely followed by H. 5.0.8., “A." LECTURE ON RULES. A lecture of special interest to footballers is to be delivered by Mr F. Sayliss, in Fire Brigade Social Hall, to-morrow night, at 7.30 o'clock. Recent amendments to the laws of the rugby code are to be explained. H.B. UNION. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the H.B. Rugby Union, held on Friday night, a letter was received from the East Coast Sub-union, asking if a match could be arranged against Napier. It was decided that .a npiteh be arranged as a curtain-raiser to ono of the representative games. A conference of the Scddon Shield district unions decided to centre upon the tour of Wellington, Hawke's Bay, and Poverty Bay, provided sufficient guarantees were forthcoming. It was intimated, to the unions that Welling; ton had guaranteed £35 and would also tour the Scddon Shield districts at their own expense. It was decided to guarantee £125 towards the tour. REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. The Waipawa Sub-union team to meet East Coast on Saturday is as follows:— Full-back: J. Russell (Onga); threequarters, Glenn, A. Russell, Booth! livequarters, Cheslcy, Parker; half-back, L. Nicholls; wing, T. Nicholls; forwards, Bridgeman and Smith (hookers), Harman (lock), Dillon, Bennett, Macfarlanc, Maaka. Emergencies: Backs, Clark; forwards, Brain and Green. HAWKE’S BAY V. TARANAKI. The Hawke’s Bay team to play Taranaki, at Hawcra, on Wednesday, has been selected as follows: — Full-back: Le Qucsne (H. 5.0.8. Three-quarters: B. Grenside (Hastings), captain, McDonald (Pirate?!, Jensen (Dannevirke). Five-eighths: Mardon (H. 5.0.8. Johnson (Celtic). Half: Anstis (Pirates). Wing: S. Gemmell (Hastings). Forwards: Baek row, Swainson (Hastings), L. Butler (Celtic); sides, Mahoney (M. 8.0.8. Rush (Dannevirke'); lock, Campbell (Hastings); front row, Wylie (Pirates), Rawlinson (Dannevirke). . Reserves: Yuille (Celtic), Mapuhi (M.A.C.) 1 , No Wairoa players were available. The Waipawa Sub-union is not represented. C. Cheslcy will travel as manager. NAPIER-HASTINGS v. WAIROA. The day was cloudy, with a keen light wind, for the Napier-Hastings v. Wairoa match, played at North Clyde on Saturday afternoon. The game ended: Napier-Hastings 2d, Wairoa 8. Grenside was responsible for 20 of the ■team’s 2G points. TARANAKI (22) v. BUSH (9). HAWERA, Saturday. The Taranaki representative team defeated the Bush Union representatives here this afternoon by 22 to 9. Following is the Taranaki team to meet Hawke's Bay at Hawera on Wedosday:—Petty, Falwasscr, E. Bourke, C. Paterson, D. Johnston, Stevens, M. Lynskoy, A. Guy,. McCready, Graham, J. Walker, R. Paterson, A. Kivcll, W. Robinson, J. Young. PLAYER INJURED. TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. A. Johnson, son of Mr J. T. Johnson, Pirongfa, one of the Waipa rugby representative players, had his jaw fractured during the progress of a match to-day.
