MANGAHAO POWER.

CIRCUIT-BREAKERS.

The recent “shut-downs” on the Mangahao hydro-electric lines in Central Hawke 's Bay were the cause of considerable comment, but consumers will learn with a good deal of satisfaction that the inconvenience is going to be considerably lessoned in the future. In order to ascertain what the department is doing, Mr H. H. Wylie, secretary to the Hawke’s Bay Power Board, wired Mr F. T. Kissell, Chief Electrical Engineer, and .on Friday he informed members of the Board that he had received a reply to the effect that circuit-breakers had been practically completed at Bunnythorpc and Woodville, and were being erected at Mangamaire and Danncvirkc. The balance had just arrived, and it was hoped te commence erection at Waipukurau in three weeks’ time. “This is very reassuring,” remarked Mr J. B. Andrew, chairman . Mr R. D. Kettle: Danncvirkc apparently has not suffered to the same extent as Waipukurau. Mr-W. Harvey: Will these circuitbreakers obviate the “shut-downs”? Mr H. Vickerman, engineer: They won’t obviate them entirely, but they will reduce them. The circuit-breakers will enable the district where there is trouble, to bo isoaltcd and not interfere with the supply to other districts.
