DISTRICT DIGESTS
— <s> GENERAL ITEMS. TAKAPAU NOTES. The Takapau Golf Club closed a more than usually successful season on .Saturday, when play was engaged in during the day. At the conclusion of play Mr E. R. White (president) congratulated the players on the progress that the club was making and asked Mrs White to make the presentation of the trophies won during the season as under:—
A ’Deane Rose Bowl.—-Miss B. Stubbs.
Johnson Cup.—Mrs Wilson. Mr Cuthbertson’s Trophy (senior championship).—Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Holden 2 (Mrs Hobson’s trouhy). Closing day events. —Mixed fourball: Mrs Sanders and Cameron, 5 up; Mrs Holden and Ropata, 3 up, and Miss Allwood and Hanita, 3 up. Ladies’ Bogey Mrs Wilson 1, Mrs Monckton 2, Mrs Smith 3. Junior Championship.— Mrs M’cDonell 1, Mrs Manson 2 (Mrs Monckton’s trophies). Mixed Fourball. —Mrs Smith and Stubbs, 5 up; Miss Stubbs and Bennett, 2 up. . ■ Ladies’ Bogey.—Mrs Holden 1, Mrs Smith 2, Mrs Sanders 3. Men’s Bogey.—S. Ropata, 2 up, first round; T. Hanita, 3 up, second round. President’s Cup (Mr E. R. White). — W. H. Smith. Griffith’s Cup.—Major McDonnell. A’Deane Cup.—W. W. Bennett. Junior Cup.—W. McGillivray (won outright). Mr A. J. Cameron, club captain, on behalf of the players, asked Mrs E. F. Stubbs’ acceptance of a silver tea pot, as a mark of the appreciation that was felt in regard to her serivces at the pavilion. Mr J. Caughley, jun., also received a presentation in the form of a golf bag, as a recognition of his services as tournament secretary.
