George Whale, a retired sol citor, of Woolwich, aged 76 years, presiding at a Rationalist dinner in connection w th the Huxley centenary, fell dead after delivering a speech in which he attacked Christianity. Whale’s sallies caused much laughter amongt the 217 guests, but a few moments after he had finished only hushed whispers were heard, for he collapsed in his chair.
