General Smuts Speaks
The Scapa Flow Sinkings South Africa's Future Oai’ktown, Ang, 9 General Smuts, speaking at a reception at Pretoria, declared that the German who scuttled the ships at Scapa Flow deserved a statue, because but for this the German fleet, which had beeu a curse to Germany, would have become the world’s curse. The Geneial contended that the immense changes in industrial matters and otherwise in Europe were sure to affect South Africa The latter could not erect a ring fence, but if she put her house in order for immigration competition she would see colossal progress.
