Colonel Astor’s divorce of his wife and the announcement of his engagenent; to a mere girl, not. yet out of h-'f teens, caused a painful sensation in America some time back. The notorious millionaire is 47 years of age, and Ids action was looked upon as degrading in eve- y sense ot the word. He was denounced both in the press and the pulpit, and a number of ministers declared that they would refuse to perform the muriage ceremony. Their threat has been carried into execution in a very determined manner.
