Dear Sir, a favor I would seek, Which you will grant, I pray, A little space wherein to speak On skim milk versus whey. You’ve heard it said that most wise men Alike do think and say, I would to heaven that every pen Agreed on skim v. whey. Then would have been no argument, No petty, wordy fray. More bitter far the feelings vent, Than even skim or whey. This topic interests but a few— The correspondents they. Your readers would.like something new, They’re tired of skim and whey. Prolonged discussion only tends 111-feeling to display; Long argument embitters friends, Friends who’ve been friends allwhey. Y our circulation will, I doubt, Diminish day by day Unless you cut this subject out— This skim-milk versus w'hey. I’m done. I’ve had my little fling.
