Cycling and Motoring.
The Dunlop Rubber Co. have applied to the League of Victorian Wheelman for Saturday, October 2, as the date for this year’s Dunlop road race from Warrnambool to Melbourne. This is practically the same date upon which, last year’s big event was held. The programme for the forthcoming event will be issued next month.
An interesting petrol consumption test was carried out under the aus pices of the Automobile Club of New South Wales last Saturday, the winning car, a 9 h.p. Renault (French) driven by Mr H. Skinner, covering over miles on half a gallon - of petrol; Mr A. Christie (15 hp Star) finished second. The Dunlop Rubber Company report a big demand for their artistic souvenir of the recent big military dispatch relay ride from Adelaide to Sydney. Cyclists desirous of obtaining a copy of this interesting produption can do so by sending along their name and address to the Dunlop Co., enclosing a penny stamp to cover postage; as the issue is limited an early application is necessary.
