According to a cable message from Sydney a blind lawyer has translated the whole of Justinion’s Institute of Roman Law into Braille writing. The hope is expressed that Mr McWilliams’s achievement will inspire some of our jurists to translate mo;le>n law into plain English. A deputation representing ten tnousand artisans protested to Earl Belbourne, High Commissioner, at the repatriation facilities allowed the Chinese which were likely to throw idle sjven thousand whites. They claimed that similar facilities should be (xtended to the unemployed whites. Earl Selbourne said the Government did not wish to dislocate the industry, but discontented coolies must be repatriated.
