CROCKERY AND DRAPERY FOR THE MILLION. There is an old saying that ‘ a man may bite off more than he can chew.” This adage app'ies to many a man in business life. For instance, only this week there arrived in the port of Wellington a consignment of three large crates of general crockery direct from the Staffordshire potteries, and five cases, drapery etc., to (he order of au overaanguine indenter. On arrival it was found that the buyer was not in a position to pay the carriage and duty. He had “ bitten off more thau he could chew.” The sequel to the business will be found in our advertising columns. Messrs Hawkins and Company announce the sale, without reserve, of part of tins consignment, on Thursday, 3rd May, 1006, at 12 noon sharp, in the Alexandra Hall.
