Ruahine Rugby Union.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The first meeting of the management committee of the newly-formed j Euahine Rugby Union was held in the Jockey Club room on Wednesday evening. There were present— Messrs Downes (in the chair), Moss, Mcßobie, Spink, Ohatwin, Beckett, Murray and Marryatt (secretary). CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read aud dealt with as follow: From G. Hunter, accepting the position of patron of the Union, and expressing his intention of donating a trophy for competition.—A hearty i vote of thanks was accorded Mr ; Hunter for his generous action. | From the Excelsior Club, Dannef virke, declining to affiliate with the i new Union.—Mr Moss said the letter i had apparently been written in - haste, as he was sure the majority of 1 the members of the Excelsior Club * were now willing to affiliate. It was agreed that Messrs Downes and Beckett wait on the Excelsior Club 1 and ask them to reconsider their decision. Therefore it was agreed that J nominations for tho contest close on the 2nd May. From H. Glass, resigning from the Appeal Board.—Mr T, H. Gor- > don Lloyd appointed to the position. 1 From G. W. Chatwin, stating his 1 inability to act on the Junior Selection Committee. Mr J. Bbbett . (Mangatainoka) was appointed in Ms ■ stead. DEPUTATION. Messrs Hosking and Macfarlane waited on the Union, and applied for j the affiliation of the United Sub--1 Union with the Ruabine Union. Mr Hosking explained that at a meeting of delegates held at Ormondville on 1 Tuesday evening five clubs were re- ’ presented, and it was agreed that , a sub-union be formed to be called I “the United Bub-Union,” with its boundaries at Maorikiki (Takapan) on the north and Matamau on the south.—On the motion of Mr McRobie, seconded by Mr Chatwin, it was resolved that the boundaries of j the Ruahino Rugby Union district ( be extended to include the district of tho United Sub-Union, and that tin ir | affiliation be accepted. ? Agreed thit the United Sub-Union j be asked to select a representative on I the Management Committee, the flatter to be increased by one. I GENERAL. Messrs Mcßobie and Chatwin, with the secretary, were appointed a subi committee to draw' up rules. 1 Agreed that championship fixtures | commence on the 9th May, and that If they be confined to two rounds. Agreed that the annual subscription (payable iu advance) of each
clnb joining the Union be three guineas for clubs entering for senior and junior championships, and two guineas for clubs playing in junior championships, iu addition to the capitation lee charged by the New Zealand Union, no extra charge to be made for third-class teams. The following nominations were received:— Pdh'alua Swifts.—Senior, Junior, and Third-class. Mangatainoka.--Junior and Thirdclass. Woodv lie.- -Senior, Junior and Third-class. Dannevirke.—Senior, Junior, and Third-class. Excelsiors and Aoteas yet to come in. This concluded the business, and the meeting closed.
