Invercargill, This day. The death is announced of an old Southlander named John McChesney, aged 91. He was one of the British Legion who fought under Bir DeLacy Evans in the Carlist war, and was the last living of 20 survivors. Auckland, This day. George Wright, the well known trainer of racehorses, died suddenly at Auckland on Monday night, aged 44. Palmerston, This day. The cottage in Fitzherbert street in which F. Muifilt, the horse trainer, lived and was recently shot, and Mrs Harris’ attempted suicide, was destroyed by fire at 2.80 this mornine. The house was owned by Mr F. Kirk, who lived on a section at the rear. It was untenanted at the time. Wellington, This day. Mrs Mary Ann O’Neill, a widow, about sixty-five years of age, committed.suicide yesterday at Wadestown, by cutting her throat with a razor. Deceased suffered from palsy.
