They thieafen to pillage and burn Harbin unless repatriated quickly. The soldiers believe that the Czar is dividing the land among the people, and they are afiail they will lose their share. They were surprised to discover quantities of arras and explosives sufficient to kill thousands and destroy whole They denied that the troops actkl barbariously, but admitted that they took strong measures owing to tho inhuman conduct of the insurgents} They are confident the nation gp« proved of the behaviour of the troops.
INTIMIDATING THE CZAR. CAUCASUS REPORTS. FIGHTING IN PROGRESSSt. Petebebueg, Jan. 10. The field army is mobilising a& Rostoff to reconquer the Caucasus. Extraordinary precautions are being taken at Tsarskoe Se’o, the Czar’s palace. The authorities have warned the Ozir that his life will be attempted whenever his leaves the palace. The Governor of the Cauoasu* telegraphs that the revolutionists seized the railway and organised a general strike. Martial law was proclaimed. Tartars and Armenians are fighting at Baku, Erivan, and Doghestan. Revolutionists are all powerful at Oourland. They annexed Crown lands, forests, instituted a Draconian system of punishments of offenders against property, and celebrate marriages. Socialists preach from the church pulpits.
A CITY BBSEIQED. EXECUTIONS AND MUTINEES. St. Peteesbukg, Jan. 10. The Tartars burnt half the city of Elizabethpoh Ten thousand Tartars, bent on massacre and pillage, attacked Tiflis, The defenders are Armenians, assisted by Georgians and .Russians. They are all well armed, and fought vigorously by means of barricades and bombs, expelling tbeir assailants. Eighteen revolutionaries have been executed at Moscow, including Schmidt, the German owner of a large furniture factory. A conflict between Cossacks and soldiers occurred at Irkutsk and hundreds were killed and thrown into the lake. The stores at Tsitsihar were looted and the people fled into Mongolia. The troops besieged the Ostrowice ironworks at Radom and killed and wounded many revolutionaries. The rest flod. i The crew of the Kniaz Gorchakoff, now undergoing repairs at Elsinore* have mutinied.
