NOT A SUCCESS.
Some of the men employed at a cer, tain factory recently decided to lor in a fishing club. A (secretary w;>j< elected, and a date was fixed for the first match. Early in tho morning of the day appointed. in wretched weather, about a score of damp but jovial fishermen clambered into a conveyance and drove off. Some of tho officials were rather new to their duties, and perhaps it, was a. knowledge of tb s that inspired a friend to ask one of tho party next day how they had got on. “’Well,” was tho reply, ‘‘the litUe outing wa.s hardly a success !’ ! '•lndeed! 'Whore was the hitch?’’ “Hitch? It wa.s all hitches! lo begin with. it rained all day. Then, when we'd travelled hallway there it was discovered that tho committee had forgotten tho scales, weights, and T'g-ing-oiit’ .slakes, and we had to come back for ’em. We arrived at the ground an hour or two late, to find that our .secretary Imd forgotten to a-sk perm sskm, and the fool of a keeper wouldn t let us fish. Therefore there was no fishing! But that wa.sn't the worst! There was only one inn in the village, and that had lost its license the day before! That was the big hitch! No, take it altogether, it wa.s hardly a suecess.”
