Wellington, This day. On Saturday Wellington got badly beaten by Auckland by 1-1 to 3, Mr John Coyle, who was well and popularly known throughout the colony in sporting circles, died yesterday morning, aged 50. Latterly he was an hotelkeeper at Ohiugaiti, but was burned out a couple of months ago, and never recovered from the shock. He was for 23 years in the New Zealand police force, and had been stationed in various parts of the colour.
