The Dean Case Again.

—♦— — Sydney, March G. The Full Court, consisting of Judges Owen, Simpson and Stephen have begun hearing the appeals in the Meagher-Dean conspiracy cases. Mr Justice Stephen explained that the Chief Justice had decided not to sit in the case, as he had given certain advice to Sir Julian Salomons with regard to Meagher's confession. In all the Court is asked to decide 19 points. The Crown counsel objected to 18, on the ground that they were raised after and not at the time of* the trial. Counsel for the defence claimed that at least six of the points were raised during the trial. With regard to the others, the Judge who tried the case hud no objection to their being submitted between the trial and the appeal. The Crown counsel denied the latter point, and said the Judge distinctly asked the Full Court to state whether the disputed poipts were raised in time. Finally it was agreed that the Judge bo communicated with on the matter. Meantime the first point, which is that the indictment is bad owing to its uncertainty, is being argued. The case is likely to bo a very long one. Later. Dean's counsel intends to appeal to the Privy Council against the decision of the Full Court in regard to the appeal against the conviction for perjury.
