The Charges Against Gisborne School.
At the last meeting of the School Committee Mr Lewis attended. He absolutely refused to give information as to the person who had told him of the improper behaviour of the children as alleged by him in his letter to the Board of Educations The charges did not refer to children*, now attending the school, nor had they reference to anything that took place in school hours. He had nothing to say against the Gisborne school or its teaching staff, but he objected to sending his children to any of the public schools in the country. He denied having made charges, and had only written the statements of other persons to him; it was all hearsay evidence, as he had no actual knowledge of such things happening himself. A sab-commit-tee was appointed to enquire into the school management, and report to the Committee nest Wednesday..

There are imitations of Eucalypti Extract in the market, products of simple distillation, fprming crude resinous oils In order that these crude oils may not be takem for our Pure Volatile Eucalypti Extract, which is recognised by the medical division of the Prussian Governmeet to be of perfectly pure origin, as per information forwarded to us through the Consul at Melbourne, 2nd March, 1879 we state:— It is proved by tests made by the Medical Clinics of the Universities at Bonand Greifswald (Prussia), and reported by Dr Shulz, Professor of Pharmacology at Bonn, and Professor Da Mosler, Director of the Medical Clime at Greifswald, that only products that are saturated with oxygen and freed of acids, resinous and other substances, adherent to primary distillation, will develops the senative qualities proper to the plant. All crude oils, or so—called Eucalypti Extracts are to be classed according to the named authorities among the turpinetines which are of insignificant medicinal value and abandoned long since as an interna medicalment. The crude oils, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts are descernible. 1. By their deficency in pungent odor (which pur product, the only genuine Eucalypti Extract, developes more freely through! ts surplus of oxygen). 2. By their alcoholic, thin and mobile appearance being reduced in special density through the presence of acids. 8. By their taste, the result of the contracting tendency of resms and tenent If these crude oils, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts are applied by mistake in cases of croup, bronchitis, diptheria, internal inflammations, dysentry, &c., the consequences are most appalling. For safety sake ask always for Sander and Sons’ Eucalypti Extract. —Sandhurst, Victoria, Australia —SANDER & SONS.
