PAHIATUA.
(From Our Special Reporter], Mr Puckle intends trying to get another match on with Mr Best for £30 aside to be run in two months’ time in Woodville, Mr Puckle not being satisfied with the result of the race on Wednesday last. Mr Vile has leased the thoroughbred entire Trefoil from Mr Souness, Trefoil was brought up from the south last week, and will stand at Mr Vile’s stables as well as travel between Woodvil!e and Eketahuna. Trefoil is by King of Clubs and is half brother to Spade Guinea, and stands 16 1/2 hands high. Mr Vile is to be congratulated in having secured the services of this horse, as Spade Guinea is thought very much of down south, Mr G. Maxtead has applied to transfer his Corporation section to Mr Souness. This land is fronting the Toritea Road, and about two miles from town. Mr Souness intends going to live there at once. Mr A. W. Sedcote intends to lease his section in the town and go on his section in the Makuri district, which he bought at the last sales. Sheep worrying is the cry all round the district. Mr F Burgess, of the Makuri district, has lost a large number, as well as Mr Puckle and Mr Whitcombe. Mr F. Burgess was out several nights watching for the dogs, but could not get hold of them. The ordinary monthly meeting of the School Committee will be field tomorrow evening. The County Council meeting will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., also the Town Board in the evening. There is a rumor that the Bank of New South Wales intends opening here in a few weeks. The regains of the late W. P. Jeffery were interred in our cemetery on Wednesday last, the Rev. Mr Perry officiating at the grave.
