KUMEROA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Kumeroa Road' Board was held in the schoolhoose on Saturday last. Present— Messrs Lynch (in the chair) Baker, Burton, Fountaine, and Little. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From Property Tax Commissioner, stating that payment of rates due on Native lands cannot be made until a scheme of expenditure is formulated in accordance with the Crown and Native Lands Rating Acts Repeal Act 1888. Deferred till next meeting. From Controlled and Auditor General enclosing revised form of balance-sheet. —Received. From Mr J. Hutchings, requesting the Board to fill up hole on sections 6, Block VIII, Kumeroa Village, as promised about two years ago. —On foe motion of Mr Fountaine, seconded by Mr Little, it was decided that the clerk write to Mr Hutchins and inform him that the overseer will attend to the matter. From Mr James Anstis, intimating that he had arranged to carry our the contracts taken by J. Gardner, who has left the district for a few weeks.—Received. From Mr T. H. Pratt notifying that he had paid up on his section, and asking that the deferred thirds derived therefrom be expended on the road fronting Mr Tucker’s property. From H. Laws, and Co. applying for progress payment of £10, on contract No. 62, Totara road.—Passed for payment.— GENERAL. Mr Lynch applied (on behalf of the cemetery trustees) for permission to take one or two totara trees from the Board’s reserve, for the purpose of fencing the cemetery grounds.—Granted. The Chairman moved that the Waipawa County Council be asked to form and metal about ten chains of road opposite the schoolhouse.—Seconded by Mr Burton, and carried. In regard to contract 58, Storie's road, Mr Burton did not think the Board would be justified in taking money from one road and expendtng it on a road which was seldom used, so he would suggest that none of the tenders received at last meeting be accepted.—Decided to recall the work as suggested by Mr Burton. The Overseer was instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the undermetioned work: Formation on Whitehead’s Road and Bridle Track; formation and metalling Main Road; formation and ditching on Antis’ Road. Tenders to close at a special meeting to be held in a fortnight. Accounts amounting to £103 2s 8d were prssed for payment and the meeting adjourned..
