WOODVILLE - MANGAHAO ASSOCIATION.
Tlus adjourned meeting of the Special Settlement Association was held at the school on Wednesday night. Mr Hall occupied tin l chair, and reported having visited tlie block allotted to the Association in company with Mr Marchant, the chief surveyor. The portion of the block nearest the river was liable to tlood. The hind wan undulating and consisted of a succession of terraces, the first two of which were exceedingly good soil, and the last was a little stony. The width of the block would be about *J J miles. The hush varied much, having riiuu on the low land, and whiiewood and scrub higher up, with here and there a large tree. In some places there were large tawas. The soil resembled that on Pinfold road, being a chocolate loam. There was very little ]>oor land in the block. In reply to Mr Murray, Mr Hall said lus idea was that if they had »000 or 0000 acres, it would include first class land. The nearest point of the .Aawmiition'# block was about 10| miles from WoodVilb*. On the motion of Mr Haggen a vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman for his report. Mr Haggeii expressed the opinion that the Mangahao Association should be limit' d t<» sixty m< ml eng and that the remainder should apply for either the Muiigaone or Lower Mskuri Block.
