IT HAVING become apparent (hat the time has arrived for the publication of a Newspaper that will earnestly devote itself to adequately representing the special and general inter* ests of Woodville, the Examiner has been founded, and will commence its career with most encouraging proofs of popular favour. The politics of the Examiner will comprise aa earnest, consistent, and sustained advocacy of the best interests of Woodville and the important districts of the East Coast, unfettered by party influence or local prejudice, giving its support only to that which contnbu'os to the welfare of the people and is conducive to the material progress of the Colony. Its platform will be that of the greatest good, pf the greatest number, and its ambition will be to rank as an influential district journal and outspoken “organ of public opinion* Local, district, and commercial news will receive full prominence, and.the proceedings of meetings of the governing bodies and of other public assemblies will be faithfully recorded, and its corre ipon • dents in the various districts will periodically furnish all items of intelligence of special or general interest. The aim o* the Examiner will be to attain the position of the recognised representative journal of Woodville, and the East Coast country districts, including the rising settlements in the interior. The proprietor can only say that it is his Arm determination lo acheive success in his venture, and make the Examiner a name and reputation as one of the most independent and progressive country newspapers published in New Zealand, trusting to receive support in proportion to its merits and usefulness. On the basis of operations set forth in the above, the Woodville Examiner has been founded, witq entire confidence in the support that is invariably extended to undertakings established on legitimate principles, and conducted with energy,, enterprise, and circumspection. To Advertisers, the Examinee will piesont a moat advantageous and desirable medium for publicity, as it will circulate extensively through all the country districts and remote localities to which ass rule the the local press does not penetrate. Terras for advertising will be as reason* able as is consistent with a wide circulartion and extended publicity _ Agents (whose names will be duly notified hereafter) will be appointed in every town-hip and district, from whom all information can be obtained as to rates of subscription, terms for advertising, etc. and who will also receive orders for the insertion of advertisements, and will forward instructions for the transmission to snbscribers’ papers.
