The Palmerston Town, Suburban, and Rural Sections are all accessible by roads, the township being the centre point from which sevoral lines radiate. Afc the present time the want of a Building Society, founded on just and liboral principles, and affording equal facilities to the small Investor and Borrower, is muoh felt in Wellington. To eupply this want in a thoroughly practical manner the present Society is projected. Its objects are as follows : — To afford facilities to its members for the safe and profitable investment of small savings. To assist its members, by advances, to purchaae freehold properties in localities of their own selection, either in town or country, To enable persons possessed of find to erect buildings thereon. To grant loans on the security of freehold or approved leasehold property. To grant loans to members on fche security of their scrip. To receive moneys on deposit. The Shares of the Society shall be of the value of Fifty Pounds each, and Half-Shares of the value of Twenty-five Pounds each. The Subscription to be paid on each Share shall be two shillings and sixpence per week ; and on each Half-Share one shilling and three-pence per week, until such subscriptions, with profit added, shall have reached the sum of Fifty Pounds and Twenty -five Pounds respectively. Each member, on admission, shall pay an entrance fee of one shilling per Share on each Share or Half -Sharo takon up. Any person wishing to borrow can do so at any time by taking up either a Half-Share or one or more Shares, paying a subscription for every Half-Share of two shillings per week, and for every whole Shara of four shillings per week until such subscriptions, with profit added, shall have reached the amount of the principal sum advanced in each case. No member to hold in his or her own right more than 100 shares. The main points of difference between the present proposed Society and those of a similar character, now in existence in Wellington, are as follows : — lst. It is established on lhe permanent principle. 2nd. The subscriptions are payable weelily or monthly, as may be desired, aud can bo paid afc the Society's Offices any day in the week between office hours. 3rd. The entrance fee is only ono shilling, instead of two shillings and sixpence, as usual. 4th. The Shares can be takeu up afc any time, either by Investors or Borrowers ; no auction sale of shares being held or premiums required from borrowers. sth. The Shares will be realiaod in a mueb shorter time than usual, it being- calculated that each Share will be realised in aboufc 6£ years. 6th. Ifc enables its borrowers to obtain so smull an amount as £25. 7th. The flues aro only aboufc one-half of those usually in force in similar Sacieties. Tho above facts will show tho extremely liberal character of the Society, and fche strong claim it haa upon the attention of both Inl vestors and Borrowers. 1 Applications for Shares, accompanied by fcho Entrance Fee of ono Shilling por share, 3 will be received by fche Secretary, afc his j" offices, WUh 8 streefc, until the 30th day of 1 April, when shareholders will be advised as to ■ tho date of payment of the first subscription.
