Memjoubhe. — By the Alhambra we have Melbourne dates to the 6th instant. The " Argua" of that date reports bb follows : — ln the import markets to day a fair amount of business has been transacted. Breadstuff's show more firmness again. For flour there is a moderate demand for trade purposes, and bakers' lots are moving off at £13 10s, An inquiry for large lines is experienced for shipment at 612 15s, and this ptice was refused for line of 100 tons, the miller preferring the ship at bis own risk rather than accept the price, and engaged freight for the quantity named. Wheat is not offering at all freely. Quotations are firm at 5a 6d to 5s 8d Oats are steady} low and common feeding are saleable at 4s 3d to 4s 6d. A line of 1200 bushels was placed " at 4a sd, and we understand that a shipment by the Derwent of about 850 bags changed hands at 4s 4£d. Maize also showa au improvement ; about 600 bags have been disposed of in parcels at 4s 6d, and we learn that the cargo of the Bubicon, comprising 850 bags, has been taken up in one line at an advance even on that. Dundee goods are beginning to be more noticed. Cornsacks are not offering now under 12s ljd. We hear of 75 bales having been placed at the figure named. Woolpacks have also had inqniriesfor the execution of small orders. We hear of 140 baleo of Calcuttas having been sold to arrive on private terms. Borne 250 hales gunnies have likewise been sold afloat. We quote up to fa 3d. Sales of good old currants are mentioned at 4£d to 4£d. Fencing wire is in better request. About 100 tons Ryland's and Whitecross's have met with purchasers at equal to £23, £24,, and £25 for Nos 6, 7, and 8. In liquids we note the disposal of Hennessey's caee brandy by auction at 28s 6d, and privately at 28s 3d. A sale of wool was held at Messrs Hastings, Cuningham and Go's stores this afternoon, at which there wbb a very good attendance of buyers. The catalogue contained 1900 bales, of which 1360 baies were sold by auction and privately. The competition for each lot submitted was keen, and very satisfactory prices were obtained, the result of the sale Bhowing an improvement upon the rates lately current. Greasy brought from 9d to 13 |d ; scoured, from I6d to 24d ; fleece, from 18d to 23d per lb. Messrs J. H. CJougb and Co held their wool sale to-day, wheu they offered a catalogue, comprising 1081 bales, to a numerous attendance of buyers, and the biddings for all the good lots were spirited. Greasy sold for 9d to 13$ d, and scoured IBd to 2s l£d per lb. The principal lots of fleece wool were passed in.
