I "ORELIMINARY ANNONUCEMENT.. NEW ZEALAND STEAM SHIPPING COMPANY (LIMITED). CAPITAL £150,000 In Shares of £10 each. DiEECroHS : C. J. Harrison, Chairman Wm. Allen Joseph Burne John Martin Isaac Plimmer John Symons. It having become apparent that an extension of the Company is necessary, in order to keep pace with the growing Colonial and Inter-Colonial tradeo, the Directors of the New Zealand Steam Shipping Company (Limited), in now seeking the aid of the public to bring about the achievement of this object, point with confidence to the success which baa hitherto marked their operations as a guarantee to intending shareholders that the prospect of a good investment held out to them is a substantial and fair one. Unlike other Steam Compares now projected, the Company actually occupies the field with a fleet of steamers especially built for and adapted to the trade on the Coast of New Zealand , as well as the inter- colonial trade. They own the following vessels, viz :— Pucebb 416 tons register Tabanaei 299 „ „ Wellington 202 „ „ Ladybird 285 „ „ Rangatika 184 „ „ Manawatu 103 „ „ These steamers are all in the best repair, and aorno of them equal in every respect to new ships, a sum of upwards of £40,000 having been laid out on tMem during the past six months. They represent the planlof the Company, together with a sailing collier (barque Anne and Janr), large hulk, freehold and leasehold premises in the best business situations in Wellington, engineer's and smith's workshop, together with large stocks of material necrs sary for the working of the steamers, &o, &o. It iB new proposed to raise the capital of the Company to £150,000, wi*h power to increaee it further. Immediately the necessary sanction of the present shareholders has been obtained in general meeting, and there will be no difficulty aB the present step is taken at their request, the proposed plan of extecsion will be d< finitely put before the public. The Directors of the Company are fully alive to the impoitance of keeping puce with the rapidly developing trade of the Colony, not only so far as the mere coastal traffic is concerned, but also with reference to the trade with the Australian Colonies, the Sauth S.'a Islands, and the growing Colony of New Caledonia, in all of which a large and profitable outlet may be found for the produce of the Colony. The objects of the Company are thoroughly Colonial, not local, and therefore the assistance of all parts of the Colony is invited. CHARLES HART MANN, Manager. Wellington, December 4, 1873.
