COOK STRAIT NAVIGATION.

TO THE EDITOR OV THE INDEI'ENDEXT. Siu, — Touching Mr J. R. George's letter in your issue- of to-day, I deny that there is any necessity to expend l>ublic money in blasting the rock known as Cook's ; and further, there is no groat danger in navigating Cook Strait, providing only ordinary cave is taken. I care not what Mr Georgo may write ; I make bold to say that due care was not observed in navigating the Rangitofco to this port, and I can assure you, sir, I am not alone in that opinion. — I am, &c, F. H. Duncan. 1 Wellington, August 12.
