Hokitika, Friday,
An inquest was held to-day on a skull found yesterday on the ocean beach. The evidenced proved that it belonged to the body of Henry Friend, who was drowned in the Hokitika River on the 14th February.
JDunedin, Friday. "Wheat is slightly firmer. Prime samples are wanted at 5s ; ordinary, 4s 9d to 4s lOd ; of barley there is none offering ; oats have a tendency upwards, although during the past few days the demand is scarcely so brisk, 3s 9d to 4s rules for good feed and prime milling. The actual revenue for the past year is £341,554 5s 4d. The estimated revenue -was £267,800. The expenditure was £269,300 13s lOd.
Christchurch, Friday. The heaviest snowstorm known here for ten years occurred last night. Today the weather is beautifully fine. The land sales this month have been 30, 602 acres, realizing £31, 204 (?)
