Damp dull wet daf on 2nd from 5.8., I*3 inches reCorded on 3id ; strong S.W. wind on night of 3r with rain, very cold, barometer fell nearly l.inch; on 7th sudden squall of wind from S.E. ; on 26th dull and wet, wind E. and fresh, very high tide and heavy sea ; fog on - 25th, and frequently hazy in mornings. Max. temp, in shade, 723, mm. 43 5. Earthquake on Ist, sharp, at 5 a.m. ; 14th, slight j 17th at 11 p.m., smart. R. B. Goes, Government Observer.
